The Israeli occupation army resumed airstrikes on the vicinity of the European Gaza Hospital in southern Gaza on Wednesday, hours after it bombed the same area the night before.

According to Haartez, the Israeli army attempted to assassinate Mohammed Al-Sinwar, a senior commander in Hamas’ armed wing, inside a tunnel, but is still verifying whether the operation was successful.

In a statement, the Israeli occupation army claimed its strikes targeted a "fortified room" used by Al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of Hamas, embedded in a tunnel network beneath the hospital grounds.

Al-Sinwar is accused by Israel of helping plan the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led incursion into southern Israeli settlements, during which more than 100 Israelis were taken captive and transported into Gaza.

A journalist on the scene told Al Manassa that Israeli drones continued to strike several locations near the hospital throughout Wednesday morning at short intervals, hindering efforts to rescue people trapped under rubble.

"We survived multiple strikes on homes, roads, and even the bulldozer we were going to use to clear debris from last night’s attacks," said the journalist, who asked not to be named. "It's clear the army doesn't want anyone in the area or the hospital to keep operating."

A medical source inside the hospital told Al Manassa that the facility's staff were forced to evacuate all patients, wounded, and workers to Nasser Medical Complex in nearby Khan Younis due to ongoing strikes and critical infrastructure damage, including water, sewage, and electricity systems.

The journalist added that victims remain buried under collapsed homes near the hospital, but ambulances and rescue teams cannot reach them due to the risk of further strikes. Israeli occupation forces are reportedly stationed near the Morag corridor, just 700 meters from the hospital.

In northern Gaza, at least 60 Palestinians were killed in intense air raids since dawn on Wednesday, according to a reporter on the scene. The strikes targeted areas in and around Jabalia, including a school sheltering displaced families and more than 10 residential buildings.

According to the source, Civil defense teams are still clearing rubble in search of survivors. Several children are still unaccounted for, according to testimonies from survivors.

An Israeli drone also struck a tent housing displaced families at a School in Jabalia, killing a man and a child and injuring at least 15 others.

Dr. Mohammad Salha, director of Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza, described Wednesday as "one of the bloodiest days" since the escalation began. He noted that hospitals are overwhelmed and operating under extreme shortages of fuel and medical supplies due to the blockade.

Repeated evacuation orders issued by the Israeli occupation army have worsened displacement and placed further pressure on remaining hospitals, which are struggling to cope with mass casualties, Salha said.

The Israeli occupation army resumed its assault on the Gaza Strip on March 18, renewing a war it launched on October 7, 2023. The escalation followed Israel’s refusal to uphold a ceasefire agreement that took effect on January 19 and was intended to culminate in a full exchange of detainees held by Hamas and an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
