Egyptian authorities on Saturday transferred all released and deported Palestinian prisoners residing in New Cairo to a new undisclosed location, following a report by the British newspaper Daily Mail that criticized their stay in a luxury hotel.

Two released Palestinian prisoners told Al Manassa that they and others had been moved from the Renaissance Cairo Mirage City Hotel, part of the Marriott chain, to another facility where their movement and reception of guests are now restricted.

Both men requested anonymity in compliance with the security authorities’ instructions governing their protection.

One of them said that their previous stay allowed limited movement within the hotel and permitted them to leave with prior authorization, provided they returned before midnight. They were also allowed to receive family members and friends offering congratulations.

The second prisoner said he understood the tighter measures, noting that “leaving Israeli prisons doesn’t mean the risks have disappeared.” He added, “The Egyptian security authorities are treating us with utmost care.”

The Daily Mail report included secretly taken photos of the released detainees eating and using their phones. It claimed that “150 dangerous terrorists” were living “alongside unsuspecting Western tourists” at a luxury hotel, describing the former prisoners—without evidence—as “hardened killers” and “jihadi extremists.”

Throughout Israel’s two-year war of extermination in Gaza, Western media coverage has largely favored Israel, according to several documented press analyses.

A total of 154 freed Palestinian prisoners arrived in Cairo on October 14 after their release under a prisoner-swap deal involving 1,700 detainees, including 250 deported outside Gaza. The exchange was part of a ceasefire agreement announced by US President Donald Trump on October 9.
