Egypt’s National Election Authority/NEA announced Saturday the timeline for the 2025 House of Representatives elections, with candidate registration set to open Wednesday, Oct. 8, and voting held in two phases in November and December.

At a press conference, NEA Chairperson  Hazem Badawy urged all registered voters to participate, saying the elections “are being held amid escalating regional and international challenges, which require unity and solidarity. This is not merely about choosing representatives but a living embodiment of this people’s strength and cohesion.”

The authority set an eight-day window to receive nomination applications, ending Wednesday, Oct. 15. In accordance with NEA Decision No. 37 of 2025 the elections will be held in two phases.

Phase one voting for Egyptians abroad will be on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7–8, and inside Egypt on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 10–11.

The initial phase covers 14 governorates: Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, New Valley, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea, Alexandria, Beheira and Matrouh. Runoffs for this phase will be held abroad on Dec. 1–2 and inside Egypt on Dec. 3–4.

As for the second phase, voting will begin abroad on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21–22, and inside Egypt on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 24–25, in the governorates of Cairo, Qalyoubia, Dakahliya, Menoufiya, Gharbiya, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharqiya, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai and South Sinai. Runoffs will be abroad on Dec. 15–16 and inside Egypt on Dec. 17–18.

The NEA Chairman stressed to political parties the necessity of focusing on “the interest of the nation” and raising the standards for selecting candidates, asserting that “superiority is not in numbers, but in effectiveness and impact.”

He called on voters to make a good choice of “the makers of the future,” urging them to use “competence and integrity before party loyalty” as their yardstick.

According to the NEA timeline, the final results of the elections are scheduled to be announced in late December.
