Basel Ramsis

An Egyptian-Spanish film director and writer, born in Cairo in 1973. Since 1999, I've lived and worked between Egypt and Spain, crafting films that explore themes of identity, migration, and cultural intersections. My notable works include “An Approach to Lavapiés (2002)”, “Swings” (2007), and “Sugar on the Side” (2014).

Beyond cinema, I've authored and published “Ain Shams 1995" and “Other Defeats” in 2023 with Cairo’s Kotob Khan Publishers.
